Container Cover-up

My current crochet interests include flowers and bottle covers. This cover-up was a great way to combine the two.

My knee frequently gets inflamed and the handy anti-inflammatory/pain cream sits on the coffee table. Now – it sits on the coffee table, in full view, but not!

The Pipsqueak Yarn: I’m loving it — with the 10mm hook, that is. Now I have to buy some more so I can make a soft comfy scarf.

To make the main basket:
Magic ring
5 sc; 2dc in each around and then repeat until it was wide enough to hold the container.
rows of single crochets around (no increases) until it was the height of the container.
I then created a crocodile stitch leaf but it’s too big and floppy. I won’t do that again with this yarn, for this project.
Finished off.
Lid: I created a circle (as above) and then slip stitched it to the main basket, along one section so that it flips open.
Flower
Magic ring (leave a long piece for attaching)
7 sc; 2 sc in each around
slip stitch together and then chain 10, slip stitch into next stitch and then slip stitch into the next
chain 10, slip stitch again as above…. repeat, creating 7 petals.
sc into first chain; 1 hdc; 5 dc; 2 chain; 5 dc; 1 hdc; 1 sc;
sc into next chain and repeat … until you have the 7 petals of “crocodile stitch”
Finish off and leave a long piece for attaching .. slip stitch this strand closer to the centre of the flower
Pull the 2 strands of the flower through the lid and tie off. I used a pretty-ish bow
