I got tired of trying to get the black smudges off stuff from the rubber mallet I was using
Handle is wedged on either end and up the middle. It’s tight. All of ash and finished with oil. It’s light but really does the job.

I like your mallet ! You can always print up a Banksy or Pasha 183 decal to
go on the blank side ; )

Ash is pretty hard. it will withstand abuse.
I don’t have one yet but it’s on my to do list.
