Out With the Old

Moving a blog series over from **********ks is pretty easy, at first glance. Copy - Paste, right.
Then you discover that you included links to some of your other ** projects and posts so you first have to make sure they are here and if they are not they have to be brought here and then you have to edit the link to find the Craftisian post.
Oh yes, then you have to purge the new post of its links and references.

If you still find any old links in my posts, please let me know.

Thanks!

(Of course you don’t have to purge all the references and links but ……. 😁)

It’s like fixing a doorknob in the house .. and then the hinges, and then replace the door.. oh now fix the floor .. oh wait.. the foundation …

Exactly,😅

But, it's worth it.

Certainly makes one consider how to approach links as you go down the road. Also makes it clear, even if you opt to walk out of one door, doesn't mean you have actually left the building. Elvis was the only one who could do that. :-)

Yes Rich, especially if you put a lot of time into documenting blogs only to find that they have been buried so deep only you could ever find them, and only if you can remember the exact titles!
I’m moving them mostly just to preserve them.

I just moved one.  I think it took me longer to find it then to actually move it.

I can appreciate the animosity toward the injustice that LJ did to many great and informative past blogs... However, before considering deleting/sabotaging blogs over there,  I feel sorry for newbies that are none the wiser, looking for assistance, and may accidentally come across one of our past useful articles lost in the archives,

I won’t be deleting anything over there for just that reason but I also won’t be adding anything and won’t be monitoring for questions like I once did.
I’ve been here since the start but kept on at LJ until the inquisition started.

I spent a couple hours and moved all my projects and blogs into Word documents. Once I had found my blogs I did not want to have to look for them again.
LBD's image is an accurate depiction! What a mess.
I also won't delete anything - no one can find a blog anyway (unless it's linked).
It’s not so hard Steve. You just go to advanced search, type in the exact name of the blog, add your (the author’s) name, scroll through about a thousand source keywords to “blog”, ant then hit search. …..twice! 🤣🤣
When you do find it of course, is where the fun begins with the blog repeated for every comment posted. 🙄

I doubt I'll copy all my crappy projects across to waste real estate here, however, if needed a link to an existing post is an easy(er) find.

LBD, just create a Word document on your PC with the links that you may want to save. It would work until the site crashes.

I already have that.  I always draft my blogs under word and mark which photos I'm gonna paste where before I make up the blog

I need to get into that habit.

Raises hand… I’m banned there for the sin of criticizing admin policy and actions.  It appears to be permanent, since there is no parole date like some have been given.

I hear some of those who had parole dates had them removed.  I assume that means they’ve permanently banning them too.  Censorship wasn’t enough.
