Spring is in the air – the birds (see our monthly theme) are migrating, the flowers are flowering, and the saws are sawing, as woodworkers prepare their entries for our Quarterly Awards (see below), and, in your shop, , … well, what is happening?
When I think of spring, I think of new beginnings and inspirations. This, typically, also brings with it new challenges. These can be seen as obstacles or opportunities – opportunities to learn and to develop skills, which is exciting!
I, for one, would love to hear what is in the works in your shop: what are you working on? What new skills are you going to take on? What challenges are you struggling with at the moment and which ones have you recently overcome?

This is a good idea Debbie,I’m sure others will have more interesting things going on,but I’ll offer just a brief description of my activity of late. I’ve been thinking more about retirement from my contracting business in the next year or so since I’m pushing 70 and just working in my wood shop, so I’ve been reorganizing the shop,buying tools that I’ve needed like a drum sander,domino and some replacement upgraded tools I already have . It was a real challenge finding room for the drum sander given I already have too much equipment in my small shop .It was also a choir creating a way to get dust collection to my new drum sander. I also plan on finishing up a couple projects that have been sitting around 95% done ,a lowboy and tilt top pie crust table,before I take on more commissions.
