I was wondering when this interview would take place…
Great story Paul.
I love that line: “When someone goes to sea in a boat that you built it matters little how it was built but it matters a great deal how well it was built”

Abbas, Castro Valley, CA

Thanks for sharing. I know the lot of us would not hesitate to go to sea in a boat that you built, even me and I am afraid of the water!

Jack

A very nice read. You sir are a craftsman.

Paul,

It’s always fun to get to know more about our fellow woodworkers. Thanks for letting us get to know you better. You’re an inspiration to all of us.

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Benjamin Franklin

Great interview Paul. As L/W says, you are an inspiration to us all.

Anna

Nice interview , I envy you because I always wanted to build my own boat . Sounds like you really enjoyed the time building boats . And enjoying your work is what it is all about .

Fantastic interview Paul, building beautiful boats or doing your amazing Marquetry projects are way beyond many folks dream projects.

woodworking classes, custom furniture maker

Wow, I am so inspired by reading this story! Even though you started about 35 years before I did, your suggestion about taking it slowly and making sure to enjoy the work is SO important to me! I do get discouraged because I am not able to build furniture on a regular basis as I would like to be doing, and because doing so would ensure that I am learning constantly… but I am getting closer every day to that dream, even at 59! Thanks for sharing your story, Paul!

Amor Vincit Omnia

Great interview from perhaps the most inspiring woodworker on the web.

Mike, an American living in Norway

Come on Mike. Now I’ll have to get a new hat. :-)

….. but thanks for the compliment.
