These are 2 more hummingbird houses I made for people in the park who brought me wood this year. The left one is Madrone from Oregon and the right one is Hemlock from Minnesota. They are 2" diameter and about 5" long and finishes with satin lacquer

Those are too cute Jim.
I guess you are in Casa Grande these days?
….must be nice… 🙂

The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Those are very nice Jim, I happened to make about 15 of them for gifts this year. I was just about to post them, you beat me to it. ;-)

Awsum, you can post yours, remember we like to share or ideas.

Main Street to the Mountains

How do you entice the birds to move in?  How high should these be, ideally?

No Bees. No Honey. Bees Lives Matter

Those are very nice.  I guess you have specks on the dimensions? ie what the birds need?

Petey

i didn't know they would next in a house like those. the nests ive seen are very intricate made from materials like hair. we had one in our yard one time,it was only about 4' off the ground. maybe i need to make some myself.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I made them for the people that gave me the wood and I have some older ones for the craft sale in March.

Hi Paul. Yes, we are in Casa Grande. Better than Michigan with 14-18" of snow.
Hi Petey The body is 2" diameter  and 4 1/2" long. It has  1" hole  and a 1/4 bored in the side and a 1 1/2  holed bored down the center the tops can be any size.
Hi Pottzy, the guy that showed the turning process on You Tube says that they birds most likely will not used them. They are mostly for decoration. They have to be located 10' to 40' high for them to  next in one.

Hey Awsum...I'd like to see yours, too!!

Cheers, Jim
