Pencil box

Another blast from the past and that place we don't mention.
This was a lot of fun. I should do another, I have some more ideas.

PVC pipe fittings turned down and epoxied in.

Tool rest at center height, draw 6 lines along the length. Lathe index makes it easy.
Draw lines connecting the 6 lines to make a hex. Use a block plane to bring them down to the lines along the length.

Walnut insert

Fluting jig in use

Go ahead and make some. Guaranteed to put a smile on a kid's face. You don't have to keep pencils in it, it's a special place for special things.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Big yuk yuk factor Hairy 8^)

T'would be a bonus if the eraser and writing tip were functional, but silly-cute none the less!

Size gives me flashbacks to the "Big Chief" pencil and pad sets every kid had "back then"
That’s really cool! Great build info as well. Thanks!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Very cool project. Where do you find a sharpener for it? That’s one pencil that is hard to misplace

Thanks for the how to hapy snaps.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Those are too cool for school. Having said that, they’d make great gifts for teachers.
Thank you all!

It came out fine.. I would like to have seen you use it your block plane on it.

That was the easy part. All long grain, nice clean cuts. That little block plane is almost the only hand plane I use, I'm not really a hand plane guy, I just try and use the right tool for the job.

Now that is just plain creative. Super job
