Lidded Volcano Bowl

This bowl was made out of the knob that was cut off the pecan log that I recently made the pecan  headboard out of. I tried to preserve as much of the natural edge as possible when turning the top side. The lid was of the same pecan wood but further into the tree.  The knob had 2 holes through it and had to be filled with black epoxy before turning. The tree was cut down about 5 years ago but the log was sawed up this February so its is still moving. The lid is moving a bit out of round and so is the bowl so they still fit together.
Its is finished with Danish Oil and clear satin lacquer.

Nice Jim. To me it looks like part of a female’s anatomy. An old female.

Thank you all for the nice comments.  I had to look at it for while to see what to call it!! It seemed like the only thing to do with this piece of wood. I had to wait quite a while for the temp to get above 70 to pour the epoxy but it all worked out before he have to drive back home.

Hi Bruce, actually it was really cold down here all winter until recently.  We had ice on the windshield many a day!
