Galley Organizer

Just a quick little organizer to make my boat’s galley a little safer and more convenient. It clears a whole drawer for better things and reduces the chances of an accidental cut from my very sharp chef’s knife. It’s mounted above the backsplash so it doesn’t take up any valuable counter space.
The angle of the knife block is to allow clearance to remove the knives under the overhead cabinet. The flatware tubes are 1 1/4” PVC painted with white Plastidip. The wooden parts are varnished Teak, dyed to match the aged varnished teak in my 39 yr old boat.

Thanks for looking

Great organizer for the boat, nice design. It'll keep the knives sharp and avoid banging into the other utensils in the drawer.
Very handy, though I am a little disappointed that you did not use a birdsmouth joints to make the cylinders out of wood. 😉

Nice Paul, and it is better than having a drawer to dig through, matching the interior too. Nathan is right, what happened to the wooden tubes. Well done my friend.

Great organizer.    The pictures of the galley brought back memories.  Thanks for the pictures.

Nicely done, Paul! I’m with Nathan in thinking that version 2 needs wooden cylinders, though. ;-)

May you have the day you deserve!

Okay guys, here’s the thing. I’m a wood boat builder. I’ve always had wooden boats until now.
However, ……. I reached the age a few years ago when it was time to go to the dark side (and less maintenance side) and get a fibreglass boat.
So …… the boat is plastic with wood trim. It’s only fitting that its galley organizer should be wood with plastic trim. 😉😁 … works for me. 😉

Oh yes,……Thanks for the kind words! 😁

Great work Paul!

The boats I've see have always had space at a premium, besides, in the movies the guy getting attacked by pirates always is seen groping around for a knife to throw. Now you won't have to grope! 🙂
thats a perfect solution for a tight space thats tends to move !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Great idea. Not just for boats but also for campers, trailers, and other RVs. I also had a "kitchen" box when I tent camped and it has compartments for those items.
Great idea a build, Paul!!!!!!!!! I love things like that!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice use of space with a clever design.
The before pic makes it more sensible than one might think. Nice organizer Paul.
Nice design and execution.  My truck camper has a drawer just like that......humm.

Really love organizers and this one is top level!  You have me thinking how I could adapt for in our RV.
Yes, you need to design to suit. The angled knife block looks sexy and all but it is really that way to allow clearance to the cabinet above to get the knives out.

Paul,
We love to see such nice transformations.  It makes staying organized so much easier.
