"The Shaver" Rocker without the Nicks or the Music.

Boy and Girls,

I thought I’d exhausted all my mass produced, "no effort" puzzles’ migration from LJ and suddenly this one rocked my boat.
It’s another one that can be just packaged straight off the laser without additional input… though a quick sand, especially over the engraved image didn’t go astray.

Previously published Apr 7, 2022.

From experience, I found that if I packaged this puzzle with an alen key,

adults would run for their lives and just leave it for their kids to play with.

Boy and Girls,

While I never made any promises like I did with The Pottzy, I did call this one "The Shaver" based on this shaver's project.
Hell, if I wasn't ashamed to publish that rotund "The Pottzy", why should I act like a sheep and keep this in the baa-baa's chair….
For the confused:  shaver   barber… ah, forget it.

While shaver's project was made out of pine and not fleet wood, it was the puzzle tag that grabbed my attention when he first published it.
For the confused:  Nicks   Stevie Fleetwood… ah, forget this one too… I won't even attempt to morph a rocker into music.

I quizzed shaver for some direct 90°, front on photos, so I could import them into SketchUp and trace over the photos to create another of my miniature puzzles as give aways. Unfortunately, I'm a tad short of happy snaps as at the time of design/build, I had no intention of posting this item as a potential project… but as we all know that chiropodist's  mantra, "Time Wounds All Heels"!

Like most of my puzzles/games, this was destined for kiddies above swallowing age, but has morphed into an adult favourite.

Imported into SketchUp, I finished up with,
This is what was initially created using his LJ's avatar photo (nothing is sacred) and sent to the laser from CorelDraw,
however, has since been replaced by cartoon characters,
the engraved/cut product,
and finally the assembled chair,
that was fully sanded, buffed and moved straight to the pool room

shaver's prototype was my first serious experiment with photo engraving… I was impressed with the quality of the result, hence the photos in the gallery.

At one stage I went for a self-indulgent one of c'est moi,
which SWMBO immediately commandeered… so she could sit on it… literally… I may be fat, but now I'm flat and the chair is in splinters.
Shame the laser doesn't engrave in colour or that picture would have included the animal blue.

I have created a few custom made ones, however, they were special orders for friends which I quickly abandoned as processing "laserable photos" took far too much effort and didn't even return a cheap cask-o-vino.
Consequently, I either package a blank rocker or one with Daffy (or selective cartoons) engraved on the chair's back.

The non-blank backs had laser char marks from the engravings,
that needed to be tidied up using a sanding template,
to create more presentable backs without the searing,
The pieces were then sorted into their respective piles
and packaged with the Spoiler,
adding another puzzle to my freebie repertoire.

I do believe that shavers SWMBO appreciated his down to earth effigy,

Hell… if I keep this up, members will be queueing up to get a dedicated puzzle for themselves…
So far I have:-
Claudalis named after ClaudF.
The Pottzy named after pottz.
The Shaver (this one) named after woodshaver Tony C.

Orders will not be taken, but all are welcome to access the files I used for this project.
  • SketchUp file is V2016 as that was the last freebie that supported Windows 32bit OS.
  • SVG files have some of the graphics used that are readable using freebie Inkscape (though Inkscape V1.1.2  may be able to read (?) Corel files).
For pottzy… In the words of Sam Maloof with a mullet… keep on rocking.

Keep safe, jocks... and your jocks, safe!

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Now I like this one.  Seems that most of the small projects I come up with fit boys a lot better than girls.  So this one might have to be put on my to do list.  Thanks.

Ron

oh duckie i sure miss my good friend tony (shaver) from LJ'S. i tried to get him here but his wife is not in good health so he doesn't post much anymore. i need to email him and see how he's doing.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Good puzzle.

I made several full size.
I didn't have the plans so I had to create some from a photo image and made a test prototype. The biggest problem was finding the center rocking point on the curve so the prototype was important. I do have drawings and measurements I can share.
That looks neat LesB and it'd be a shame if others didn't take up your offer.

I remember going through this type of scenario with Shaver those few years ago, and it was his contribution that spurred me on to convert his contribution into a miniature puzzle.

Does your's dismantle, giving kiddies a challenge, or is it solid?

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Duck,  It works just like your little ones. Also coming apart and folding flat allows it to go in the attic for the next generation.
I forget where I got the first images but it could have been Shaver.
