Mesquite Trivet

Our neighbor is always baking and needs another trivet to put hot things on so I made them one for Christmas. It is made from mesquite and the lettering was done by my other neighbor who just bought an XTool CNC laser. I it  8 1/2" diameter and 3/4 " thick. It is finished with  cutting board oil and buffed and waxed

love it jim.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Good looking project, I like the colored infill. Great job.

1/2 way there with the laser JJ... rather than sitting on the fence, you just gootta climb over it and break in.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Looks great! The laser detail on the back is a nice addition.
Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Looks Good Jim,

I made a similar round "cheese"  board which was a bit thicker. My wife pointed out that it needed finger grooves so it was easier to pick up. So I ran the bottom edge through the router with a cove bit to create a finger grove. Just a thought.
Thank you all for the nice comments.
Hi Les, that is s good idea to open the bottom edge with a concave radius. I have done that on other projects...did not think about it on this one.

Fine and personal gift Jim!
The CNC bite is subtle, but then the disease takes hold and you become one with the tribe!
Thanks, Bruce. I think I have been bit!!
