Rock Saw Water Nozzle

This started off as a wood project to make the prototype nozzle and it was finished in black Delrin. This nozzle is needed to deliver water to both sides of the diamond blade used to cut rocks in the Rock Shop in our park. I had to drill holes in three directions to hook up the water passages and then they were plugged with 8-32 stainless set screws to block the construction holes. The round  fitting to hook it to the hose was also turned from the black Delrin on the wood lathe. It should work much better than the little one that just squirted from the top with much smaller holes.

You sure have a fancy "Park", all the necessities of a fun time!

I like how you made that, the method of construction holes sure beats trying to intersect totally blind or trying to get the depths exact.

I have an old rock saw where the blade spins through a bath of oil (mineral spirits). Never fired it up as it takes about a gallon, but would be fun to crack open some geodes!
Jim, is there anything you can't fix or make better? 👏🏻 👍🏻

I agree with that John! (except maybe the crack of dawn or break of day)
when I was in the NT I bought some Zebra rocks (stones) with the intention of inlaying them into wood but was never game enough to try.
I would be interested in seeing what your doing in the Rock Shop in the park as a result.
BTW the method you used to get the water to where its needed is a common engineering practice in automotive engines to get oil into the required bearing surfaces.  As a mod do you think  couple of garden watering jets in the ends would help direct the water onto the blade?

I was going to chuck it but I am now reconsidering.

An interesting shot of the saw blade and set up too, ....keep up the good work ... you rock!  ha ha

Mac Gyver  does it again !

Nice upgrade Jim! Well thought out.
Thank you  for all the nice comments..

Hi Bruce, we went to Natural Expressions in Gilbert, Az a few weeks ago. That is like one of the biggest rock shops in the world. Fred had rocks from all over the world. They make a lot of inlays with diamond grinders that take rocks. down to  inlay powder. They have a rock saws with blades up to 36" diameter and they use diesel  fuel for a lubricant!!

Hi Rob. Those zebra  rocks are super cool!!!! There is not very much space for two jets that would have to split on either side. This is compact and does a nice job of delivering the coolant.

Cheers,Jim

Necessity is the mother of invention, so the saying goes. Great work determining how, then doing.
Hi Rob. I did not sign up to be in the rock sop, so I make nothing in there. However, those that do  cut , shape and polish all kinds of rocks we find in the desert when they go out on the side by sides. Plus they buy a lot of rocks at the gem show in Tucson in February every year. On the last trip they found a goodly amount of gold but are not telling anyone where they found it!!!!!
