ive always been inspired by krenovs chest on stand. before making my interpretation i looked at probably a couple hundred different versions of his original. this is what i came up with, a cabinet with two adjustable shelves over two drawers on glides. doors are mounted with euro style 3/4" overlay hinges from amazon. the cabinet is made from bubinga. the back, back of doors and drawer bottoms are cherry ply. the stand is clear alder. the door front panels are rippled sapele veneer from amazon. the door handles also cam from amazon. the wood dowels that came with them was just plain poplar so i turned my own from bubinga. i loved that you could make a handle any length you want. the frame was put together using festool dominos. the door frames were made using rail and stile bits using my woodpeckers coping sled. here are some build pic's
the finish is 4 coats of maloof oil. 1/3 poly, 1/3 boiled linseed oil and 1/3 raw tung oil. rockler used to sell it but no longer i guess. i just mix my own. i put adjustable felt pads on the bottoms of the legs here are the detailed plans for anyone that would like to build it. sorry no cut list available ! any questions please ask.

I like it in that spot, probably where you intended before designing?
Brass is a great accent as well as the color the legs came out with the oil mix. Substantial drawer boxes, are you maybe future-planning on trays inside?
Unfortunate that (the?) duck took over, but what's one to do?
thanks guys. yeah i had that spot in mind before doing it. basically the only spot left in my house for new furniture. i love those handles and what you can do with em. i wish now i had gone with a lighter wood veneer for the doors though, too close in color to the bubinga. it was much lighter before the finish.

Wow. Another great piece. Great work here. Again, love the wood combination and design. The brass accents on the pulls are a nice touch. I also like the detailed plans.! That's for posting. Good stuff...
Super nice looking chest on stand Pottz, the wood selection is great - that color contrast works well, and the handles are perfect for this creation with the same wood & contrasting brass mounts. Question for you - how do you like the Amazon veneer? I'm currently working a project that could use veneer and I'd like your opinion of it.
That’s a good one Pottz. I like your work process phots. I watched the Woodpecker video. Great tool. After you cut the tenon’s is there any tear out on the outside of the tenon? Ducky likes my hand made drawing. He’s going to love yours.
OT-i loved it, paper backed and totally flat. i used 3m spray contact adhesive to apply it to the cherry ply. couldn't have been easier. james-thanks. no just use a backer, but the bubinga was so hard i didn't need to. yeah i cant wait for the ducks opinion ? ron- thanks buddy. ron-thanks, i was gonna use ones from rockler i used before but they were discontinued. i loved these even better. i always try amazon first for anything just because their so easy to deal with. i was surprised by the cost.

OMG Pottzy... plenty of pictures and you've worked overtime mashing that keyboard... hell, next you'll be making puzzles... oops, I shouldn't have said that and should delete it for fear you'll revert out of spite... but like you I can't find a [CAPS] [DELETE] key on my Rotex... but then again, you don't have a Rotex to lose that [CAPS] on.
ive always been inspired by krenovs chest
It was Jamie Curtis's in Trading Places for me.
If not like SWMBO and be accused of being (pre) mature, may I suggest you slip in a quick review of After all, people are not going to look for knob inspiration reading about chests... errr, hmm....
Hope that distant cousin of mine is not stuffed, we may become related.
And before you accuse me of non-kiddie content... you're the one that posted the controversial comments/pictures.... oops there I go again inciting spiteful retaliation about postings.
How dare you say you're not here to teach... you keep teaching people who to avoid... moi!
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
