Here are a few pictures of the marquetry for the G & G wine cabinet that I'm working on. The hair is out of Padauk it was a little tough with the small 1/0 jewelers blade. A ton of orange dust. lol Thanks for looking!

good write up on a nice looking project.

Fantastic work Dennis! My fingers get sympathy cramps seeing you work at the saw for all those interlocking parts.

That's some fine shading shifts in the white, do you use separately dyed/natural woods or just select specific areas from a common sheet?
That's very nice! Must have some fine wines in there.

Neat....
The hair.... was a little tough with the small 1/0 jewelers blade.

Could be a perfect use for a HOZO NeoBlade.  I've have better results on small puzzle boxes than with static blades which kept breaking 4mm thick wood along the grain.

i took a look at that tool, id have very little use for it but i think your right about using it for what dennis is doing. seems ideal for marquetry ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Wow, Dennis! Technically impressive and beautiful.
You have an amazing amount of calmness and patience to do this work. Looks like a painting not even wood.

I used to use these scalpels

that I got in bulk from my dermatologist... hopefully they were unused ones... traded for a few puzzles for his kids.
They sort of worked, but were a struggle, especially on this grainy, easily torn out wood,

The HOZO fixed in seconds

and I didn't need multi passes using a hard backing board.... it does the cutting, I just have to guide.
You might need to buy one when you start making all those puzzles you're yearning for.

Amazing work!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

That is stunning! The finished piece will be breathtaking.

I'm curious about the skin tone pieces - is that natural wood (what kind?) or dyed?
Beautiful creation, fantastic.
Can't wait to see the Wine Cabinet completed. That bookmatched front that is on it as your base is already spectacular. I doubt many of us would cover that up, but adding the Redhead is going to be something else.
Sorry I haven't responded sooner I've beed super busy. Thank you guys for all you advice and complements.
Steve: Thank you Sir, I diden't do any shading with hot sand on this on. The veneers for her face were made with 2 different shades of maple, birch, American holly, light walnut, walnut, gaboon ebony, bloodwood 2 shades. Her hair is out of 3 different shades of Padauk.
LittleBlackDuck: The way I cut it now is perfect, it was just a little harder to cut then normal, I cut 10 layers at a time, it's actually pretty fast.

I would never dare to try to make suggestions to a scroller... thought you used scalpel blades.
