Popcorn Bowl

This is something I dreamed about one night and grabbed a piece of a recently cut up dry log (pics 4&5) and turned it into something I wanted to try when we next have popcorn. The reason for this design with the inward lip is that when you have full bowl of popcorn and you dip into one side to pick some out, the popcorn spills over the opposite side and my recliner fills with popcorn!!! I'm thinking the lip/flange will contain it so it does not spill out!

The wood looks like red oak but did not turn like dry red oak so I'm not sure what it is. It had some voids when I got into it and they were filled with black epoxy. It is 9 1/2" x 3 1/4" high and finished with Danish oil and clear gloss  lacquer spray( to make it easy to clean up)

Good looking!   Like the concept of the inside flange.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nice bowl! Smart idea with the flange. I'd expect that it would work with a lot of things, like not letting my oatmeal spill over the edge. #sloppyeater
