This is a tribute to my buds Klaus and Mads.

I have being wanting to make one of these babies for some time and finally got the time.

This one is made from Oak, cherry and maple. Finish is linseed oil. Rope is spectra from old racing sails.
I like to under-cut the faces of the mallets a lot because I tend to sit/ stand low to the workpiece.
There are two bevels on the head, one for sitting and, one for standing..
The rope work is something I did 50 years ago and got reminded about it by Mads.

I like it. The seizing is a nice touch but I would have liked it better if it had been tarred marline. …. Just me being a curmudgeon. :-)

Beautiful work. The rope is a nice touch. I find myself using my mallet for a lot of stuff I never thought it would be useful for. Don’t be afraid to get it dirty or marred up. You’ll be using it for stuff you never dreamed of. Shoot, I carry mine in my bag with me. Laptop, notepad, measuring tape, mallet…. It’s useful, man!

Lovely mallet my friend, I love the idea of two different cuts, clever.

Nice little mallet and the two different angles on the head seem to make a lot of sense now that you explain why and I recognize the open handle style .
The wrapped handle is nice also should give a good grip .
