MY FIRST SHOP MADE HAND PLANE

This is the first plane I have ever made and I had a lot of fun doing it .
The inspiration came from Mads when he posted his eleven plane run and Paul (SHIPWRIGHT ) .
I have ordered some plane irons from LV but they have not arrived yet so to get going on the plane I managed to find a used iron from a block plane 1 5/8”wide which turned out working well .I made it just for the fun of it along with the little hammer for adjusting the iron .
The plane is made from maple and jatoba (Brazilian cherry ) and is sort of in between a block plane and a #4 .
The sole of the plane is attached a little different with a matrix of 5/16 maple strips running side to side and front to back and this was done with a jig on the table saw .
and also has an adjustable mouth opening feature which is very simple to make and adjust the rest of it is basically a Krenov style with a brass pin and jatoba cross pin making it easy to replace just in case and a brass strike button on the back to adjust the iron .The size is 8 1/2” X2 3/4” the shape fits perfectly in my hand and has a nice weight to it with a oil and wax finish to bring out the color of the beautiful and hard jatoba .

The plane works great as you can see by the shavings it produces and I have made some 2 thousands thick but will play around a little when I get the new irons as this blade is from a block plane and not the proper angle for this but it works way better then I expected .
Comments are always welcome good or not !

It looks good. The most important thing is that you enjoy using it, any tool a person makes seems better than anything that can be bought, and you have a knack for making beautiful things I wish I had.
