Coffee table gun chest all on one

This is the most involved project I have attempted up till now. All out of repurposed pallet wood, stained with tend mahogany with poly finish. Half lap joints, seemed to be the best fit for this particular project, although the next project after surgery for cataracts I will try tendons. Trying to improve my skills as I go. The chest has a lock with a skeleton key, my daughter’s request. Christmas present for her husband. Took me a while to finish but, finally it’s done.

That has to be one of the best things I have seen made from pallet wood. Excellent job

Nice

Amazing that could be pallet wood. Lots of skill and craftsmanship went into it, nice work James.

Great job James. The stain makes it look a lot like Cedar (that’s good in my opinion).

Thanks Mike40, it’s actually Red Mahogany slightly lightened with three coats of high gloss poly.

Yet another proof that, if you're willing to put in the effort, you can get some nice wood from pallets.

Even if you can afford other materials, sometimes it's just fun to prove you can produce heirloom quality from what others claim you can't.

Nice gift (a well disguised boat for one of those incidents when all the inventory was lost at a lake version of the sea, which can be hidden in plain sight, in the house. . . .).
