CBHS = a series of small metal leg tables I got from Christian Brothers High School Lewisham Sydney, I use in the yard as work benches, (or Coffee Tables). The are about 600 x 600 and were possibly school desks. CNNP = a piece of fallen timber I recovered whilst camping at Crows Nest National Park. The activity started out originally as what I thought would make just a attractive looking wood drink coasters. And so they did. however I then decided to challenge myself and see if I could insert the into the CBHS table top.
Well it wasn't an easy task and really had me thinking. Being a bit wary that it would even work I made templates and did a test run in some plywood.
Eventually I got enough confidence to try it out on the table top. Anyway without boring you to tears I eventually produced a reasonable result. and exercised just about all of my sleeping wood working tools and machines!
We will see how long it last out doors this time. As the tool name was too long its here:-
Bandsaw, Planner, Table Saw, 1/2 Sheet sander,ROS, Linishing Machine, Thicknesser, Disk Sander, Routers, Template follower bit, Planner bit, Routertrimmer, 3.2mm straight bit, Die Grinder, Clamps, Titebond Glue, Hand Sander, Timbermate wood filler, Air Compressor, Queen Rainbow Vegetable Dyes, Food Colouring,
OK the details of what materials I used is added here Wood Filler:- The wood filler is Earls Timbermate White, not natural but white, thaking note it is interior grade. So we will see how it weathers outdoors. Dyes:- The dyes are Queen Rainbow although its "pinkish" and faded "Blueish I used Red and Blue. About 20 drops in effectively a table spoon of filler.
I have some fairly eyebrow raising gear in my collection, Flocking, Gold Copper and Silver leaf, so it wont be anything too weird to find vegie Dyes and questionable woodfiller too.
White food colouring was toothpaste !... or I guess you could use sand shoe cleaner if you still own a pair of Dunlop Vollies or KT26 Runners!
I couldn't close off without giving an acknowledgement to LBD for the product direction and process on its use, Thank you!
Sorry to burts the bubble RC, however, you should have used neutral rather than white... we are only talking a few shades, but the white tends to "pinken" the red a tad more than the neutral. Also to get a deeper red (they all seem to go Barbie when mixed with Timbermate (neutral or white)... Chinese red food colouring, the stuff you get from your Chinese stores (you've seen those hanging ducks or Char siu in Chinese fooderies)
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
