Mitera

I made this little fawn for a year long show in Castlegar, BC. I wanted to try working in a different style from my usual stuff and I'm pretty happy with the result. It was fun to do and added some challenges because of the different style. People vote on their favorite pieces (there are 29 of them displayed around the city) and the winner of the People's Choice award has their piece purchased by the city. The piece is called Mitera, which means mother, in Greek. I did it as an homage to my mother who passed away from cancer. There is nothing overtly obvious about that story line so I mounted it on a piece of fractured granite to add some subtle tension to the piece

I've seen a doe and her newborn fawn in our yard the last two days.

That's beautiful and a nice tribute to your mother! Condolences, for that.

The form and expression are fantastic.I like the "gun blued chrome" looks as well, nice cool colors!

Good luck!
Thanks. i experimented on the patina as well. I built a large tumbler and tumbled the pieces first. Then I wire wheeled everything before torching it. Gave a really nice texture as well as colour
