This is a little mallet that was requested and then cancelled so I finished it anyway. It is a mallet with a hard maple head and red oak handle. It is 11" long and the head is 1 3/4" x 5 1/2" long. it is finished with Danish oil and then 3 stage buffed and waxed.
It will go in the sale in October.

Good looking mallet.   Very nice finish.

That's a good looking mallet! I bet it's plenty sturdy as well.
I like it Jim! Simple yet elegant and strong. Good on ya!
Looking good Jim...well done.

Mike

Don't listen to Pottz, this is a mighty fine specimen of a wooden mallot. In fact, this has inspired me to also make one, to be used as a wooden plane adjuster. The iron tack hammer I've been using works, but doesn't seem appropriate. Thanks.
lol- not the mallet, the person that canceled it ! jim doesn't make things that suck !

Thanks for a nice comments, you all!!! It was fun to get on the lathe again. I have been making a lot of steel stuff for people. My lathe might think I've given up on it!!! I do have some roughed out bowls in buckets of chips, It might be time to  finish them up soon!

Yeah, the closest JJ has made for a sucker is a baby's rattle.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Jim, that looks great.  Even the simple projects can have elegance built in, this one certainly does.  You've really been cranking out the projects lately and thank you for sharing them.
Kind like shoemaker's mallet

Very nice... really like the accent lines from the lathe!
Nice Jim. I’m sure it will sell. What’s it used for?
