I made this bookstand as a donation for a silent auction next month benefiting the local breast cancer unit. It is a copy of one at Monticello, Jefferson’s home in Charlottesville, Va. It allows you to have up to 5 open books at one time and it turns 360 degrees. Jefferson is given credit for its invention by some, others say he merely improved on an older French design. I used General Finishes Jel stain and a coat of Jeff Vandenberg’s wax.

That is beautiful and a piece inspired by one of the greatest thinkers America ever produced. Great project and beautiful execution. I hope it gets top dollar at the auction. I’m sure it would stand well on it’s own, but being a Monticello replica, it will go for an even higher price. Good luck and let us know how it comes out at auction.

Very interesting project. Amazing what those old farts thought of. Wonder if it will work as well for smart phones?

Great job. I need ones of these.
Thank everyone for the kind words. The wax did a great job Jeff, thank you. Brian I am hoping it will be received well in this area because Jefferson’s summer home, Popular Forest in Forest, VA is only about 25 miles away. Thank you.
