ART DECO BOX

This is my second art deco box design and I am starting to enjoy this style as it opens up new design possibilities for me .
The box is made from jatoba ,walnut and white aspen as accents .
The hinges are leather with polished nickel covers and the lift ring and tray lift are also polished nickel,using this arrangement of hardware ensures perfect alignment of the box and lid when closed as the ring engages into the accent band and the accent band also acts as a lid stop when open stopping the lid at about ninety five degrees .
The walnut inlay banding is also a nice accent which also somewhat protects the corners from chipping .
The tray is made from a laminated walnut and aspen combination and a special lift that I designed for this box and has a special meaning .
The finish is a bees wax mixture and gives of a beautiful scent and will mature nicely overtime as more coats are applied .
