Gift for a Friend

I’m not one for extreme heights so it’s good to have a friend who is a professional rigger. The photo is of my friend Andrew at the top of my 53’ unstayed mast installing some new instruments a while back.
This box is a thank you for this and for just being a friend.

  • It is a simple birch box with a sliding lid.
  • The outside is finished with Zebrano veneer, wipe on poly and a bit of marquetry on curly maple.
  • The inside is finished with burgundy pig suede and a bottle of Chianti Classico Reserva.

I thought it fitting to photograph it in front of the serving tray I made several years ago in homage to the Chianti brand.

“A bit of marquetry” <<< 😳

That is amazing and if Andrew doesn’t have a wet eye when looking at that, I’ll be very surprised
