Olive Bowl

I made this bowl out a piece of California olive wood from the Dead Tree Salvage sawmill in Casa Grande,Az. I roughed it out in Az. and finished it here in Michigan. It had cracks throughout when I got into it and most were filled with turquoise, It is 7" diameter and 3 1/2" high. It is finished with Danish oil and 3 stage buffed.

Olive wood is usually beautiful, You did a wonderful job on that piece.
Beautiful bowl, I have always liked the grain in Olive wood and the turquoise is a nice addition. Great job !!!   MIke
Nice turning, interesting features. Luckily it didn't come apart on the cracks.
Love olive wood. Looks good even with the cracks.
It use to almost make me cry when I drove through north central Calif. and saw trees bulldozed into piles and burned so they could plant almonds (more money). I have heard they are going back to olives because almonds take too much water.....
That's a sharp looking bowl. Did you notice the little heart shaped knot on the outside?

Hi Les, This is some from an old orchard that had been dead for many years. But even when you cut it now and rough turn it, it warps a lot in just a month.

hi Awsum55....Nice catch. I'll have to take a closer look at it .
