The Dream Desk

I spend a lot of time at my desk. It’s easily the most used piece of furniture in my house. Heck, I’m sitting at my desk, right now, writing this post. So when I decided it was time to upgrade my desk and build a new one I really wanted to pull out all of the stops. And like with any good project I really wanted to push myself and try to do things with this project that were outside of my comfort zone. I’m super thrilled with how it turned out and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Welcome Zac. The looks beautiful and practical. Love the computer and camera drawers. Is it a sony?

The accent strip makes it unique.

Yup, we want to see more of your work.

Now that is a project with style. I love the Ash accent strip running around the desk,, also love the way you have book matched the fronts.

I would be curious as to how the legs are made and attached.
Do you have a spline inserted between the top and sides?

All in all a beautilful and smart thoughtout desk

Amazing build and such a beautiful blending of colors, from the wall to the table and speakers. Nice.

Beautiful craftsmanship!! Great details and choice of wood!

Thanks everyone! What a warm welcome :)

Martin, you’re bang on it. It’s a Sony A6100, which is my backup camera, I do the majority of my shooting on my Sony A7iii.

Madts, the legs are custom made, I welded them from 2" plate steel and 1 1/4" tube steel. If you want I have a YouTube video showing the whole process here:

I have 5 biscuits keeping the corners together on each side, and the cabinets underneath add a lot of strength as well!

Nice. Wondering if my trusty Canon 6D would fit in :)

Do you have more pieces featuring the accent detail?

Beautiful and thoughtful piece. I love that you let the walnut waterfall over the sides, and used the same board vertically across the drawer fronts – really pleasing. I also love the angle on the drawer fronts that allow for no hardware- makes such a clean design! You should be very proud of this desk!
