Just wondering…. What is your FAVOURITE part of the woodworking process?

I think that my favorite part is coming home with a stack of lumber. Then standing looking at it, trying to see what is hidden inside. Sometimes its a table, or a box. Sometime I have to plane it to get a better idea. Always a mystery.

Tor and Odin are the greatest of gods.

I love going to the lumber store and buying a big stack of lumber. Nothing screams awesomeness and potential like a pile of rough cut walnut in the shop.
I also like putting on the very first coat of finish, it’s the first time that you really get to see the wood grain and see how the finished project will look; it is a bit of a relief too, finally all the joinery/glueing sanding is done.

I was thinking about the “going to get the wood” as well …

I wonder how many will respond with “sanding” as their favourite part, lol.

Definitely the sanding . . . Let me clarify: not hand-sanding; running it through my drum sander! LOL

Actually, I think my favorite part is designing on SketchUp, even though I’m not very good at it.

I always enjoyed the launching parties.

The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Going to get lumber is a chore for me. I see all the beautiful wood and I am always thinking It cost way too much, so I skip the row.

Figuring out the flow for the project is the most entertaining for me.
The most joyous moment is when the project is done and I did not mess up :)

I enjoy that feeling of accomplishment and productivity at the end of the day, no matter what stage of the project it is. If I get that feeling then I know things are moving in the right direction. Also when I’m done. “I made that and my blood, sweat, tears and love went into it.” I like that.
