Weekend Wonders: My Biggest Challenge

I wonder ….. what is and/or has been your biggest challenge in woodworking?
(and how have you overcome it, worked around it, etc)

Toxins Out, Nature In - body/mind/spirit

Money for materials and time for working. Fortunately the lack of time helps to stretch out the money.

Losing fingers since 1969

Gardening. I work around it by sneaking into my shop at every available opportunity.

Mike, an American living in Norway

Finding hardwood in a country famous for oak. I can’t get over how hard it is to find hardwood in the UK that’s big enough to do anything with or isn’t so massive I can’t mill it in my shop.

Money to buy lumber and time to cut it. Both in short supply.

More space in my garage would be extremely helpful.
Wood prices have gone up in my area and I am waiting for a sale to get some. Unfortunately I need to get Christmas present underway.

Abbas, Castro Valley, CA

My challenge is getting hardwoods thin enough to use on my scroll saw and without paying through the nose. My solution, getting to know woodworkers and senior centres in my area that have access to bandsaws and planes.

Anna

I’d love to do marquetry and scrollsaw work …. but it all just doesn’t hold the interest for me, when I am doing it. so “I” am my biggest challenge.
