A while back, when I was starting out with veneering, I went through a brief “box on stand” phase where I experimented with grain matching, hinge options, and some of my first marquetry. This one is an MDF box with Western Maple and Wenge legs and shop cut veneers in the same woods. The “marquetry” on this one was done with a router and a bushing set.
The story goes that it was to be a Maple piece with just a few dark accents but when I was dabbing on the dark veneer I accidentally knocked over the can and it just got all over everything. :-)
There are a couple more I may post.
Thanks for looking

The first time I saw it, I thought you spill paint on it on purpose…
OOPS has always been my favorite. I marveled at it every time I saw it and still do.

Also this time I envy your work. What a great chest.
I remember this one Paul and I liked it a lot when I first saw it and I still do. It’s not just original, but playful too, and I love the hinges, not just because they are wood but because they are so beautiful and greatly enhance the overall design. I hope you will continue to do some of these novelty pieces in the future as they are a welcome break from the conventional and also inspiring.

Beautiful Paul, outstanding work. Too bad about the accidental spillage ;).
Love the hinges. And the oops. :-)
