Gone Sailing
(This isn’t wood related but will take place partially on one of my posted projects )
I’m going to be away from the forum for about three weeks if things go as planned. For several months now a few of my friends and I have been planning a cruise about 100 miles north (from Cowichan Bay, my home) to Desolation Sound. The plan is to leave here on Sat the 21st, take about three weeks and end at the annual Sucia Island small boat rendezvous in the San Juan Islands in mid July.
Two of the participants started early having sailed up this far from Oregon. One came up from Astoria through Puget Sound and the other came up the open Pacific coast. They arrive here tomorrow.
What makes this an adventure is that we are all sailing small boats and oh yes, there are no actual youngsters among us, just a bunch of old farts working on their bucket lists.
(Before you ask, yes they are all wooden boats.)
The participants will be:
Chuck in his 26’ Falmouth Cutter, Baggywrinkle (the “big boat”).
Michael in Belle Star, a 23’ Stone Horse design.
Jamie in the smallest boat, a twenty foot Chebacco named Wayward Lass
And of course me and my beloved 21’ Friendship Sloop, Friendship
I’m quite eager to get started and anticipate a great time. I just hope my old bones are up to it. This will be by far the longest period I have spent aboard at one time.
Wish me luck and I’ll catch up with everyone when I get back.

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.
Sounds like an adventure most of us would like to be on. Keep us land lubbers posted on the details of your voyage. I’m going to the maps to find all the places you mentioned. Sail on skipper.

Hi all. I’m home for a day to pick up my passport and then off to Sucia Island in the San Juans for a small craft rendezvous for the weekend. Ill be back in the shop next week.
Madts, it is my dinghy tow line, middle “C” at that speed as I remember.
Barb, Not so much bucket list as a rare opportunity not to be missed.
